Terms & Conditions

Effective August 31, 2026. Governs the iLead app, this site, license activation, and billing.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and iLead ("iLead," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the iLead desktop application (the "App"), this website at ileadapp.org (the "Site"), the license activation and account services that support them (together, the "Service"). By downloading, installing, activating, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and "you" refers to both you and it.

2. What the Service is

iLead is a local-first SSH manager: an encrypted host/key/snippet vault, a terminal client, and related tooling that runs on your own machine. The Site and a small licensing backend support account-free purchase, activation, and subscription management. Your vault - hosts, credentials, keys, notes, snippets - is stored encrypted on your own device. We do not host, back up, or have access to its contents; a lost local vault with no backup of your own cannot be recovered by us.

3. License grant and restrictions

Subject to these Terms and payment of any applicable fees, iLead grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on the number of devices your plan permits, for your own internal use. This is a license to use the Service, not a sale of any copy, code, or intellectual property in it.

You may not, and may not permit or assist anyone else to:

  • copy, modify, translate, or create derivative works of the App or any part of it, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction;
  • rent, lease, lend, sell, resell, sublicense, assign, or otherwise transfer your license or access to the Service;
  • remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notice on or in the Service;
  • use the Service to build a competing product or service, or for any purpose that competes with iLead;
  • use the Service in violation of any applicable law, or in a way that infringes or misappropriates any third party's rights.

4. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

Paid plans are billed on a recurring basis (currently annual) through Paddle, our merchant of record, which handles payment processing, tax, and receipts. We never receive or store your full card details. Prices, plans, and device-seat limits are shown at checkout and may change prospectively; changes do not retroactively alter a term you have already paid for.

You can cancel or change your plan from within the App (Settings/License) or through the billing portal a cancellation link takes you to. Cancelling a plan billed through Paddle stops future charges; access continues through the period already paid for. A complimentary or otherwise non-Paddle-billed seat is deactivated immediately on cancellation, since no payment is being stopped. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated at checkout.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to, and not to attempt to:

  • interfere with, disrupt, overload, or impair the Service or the servers or networks connected to it;
  • gain or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data that is not your own;
  • use the Service to attack, scan, or gain unauthorized access to any third-party system - the App is a tool you operate on infrastructure you are already authorized to access, and you remain solely responsible for how you use it;
  • probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or breach any security or authentication measure protecting it, except through a coordinated disclosure process we have expressly authorized in writing;
  • use any automated system (bot, scraper, or similar) to access the Service at a scale or in a manner a human user would not.

6. License integrity, anti-tampering, and security circumvention

iLead's license enforcement, device-seat limits, code-signature verification, and related security mechanisms exist to keep the Service fair and sustainable for paying customers. In addition to the general restrictions above, you specifically agree not to, and not to assist, instruct, or provide tools to any third party to:

  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, algorithms, or license-verification logic of the App, except to the extent a mandatory law makes this restriction unenforceable;
  • patch, hook, hot-patch, or otherwise modify the App's compiled binary or its running process to bypass, disable, or alter any license check, device-seat limit, code-signature verification, or other security or entitlement control;
  • extract, share, sell, publish, or use an activation code, license token, or signing key outside the account and devices it was actually issued to, or activate the Service using a code you know or reasonably should know was not issued to you;
  • circumvent, defeat, or attempt to defeat any technical measure that controls access to, or enforces limits on, the Service, including by spoofing or falsifying a device identifier, hardware fingerprint, or environment variable used for license verification;
  • use, reproduce, or distribute a version of the App that has been modified to remove, weaken, or bypass any of the above.

Consequences. A violation of this section is a material breach of these Terms. We may immediately suspend or terminate your license and account without refund, and we reserve the right to pursue any and all legal remedies available to us, including injunctive relief and recovery of damages, costs, and reasonable attorneys' fees, against anyone who tampers with, circumvents, or assists others in circumventing the Service's license or security mechanisms, or who distributes a copy of the App modified to do so. Nothing in these Terms limits our right to report unlawful conduct (including under applicable anti-circumvention or computer-fraud law) to the relevant authorities.

7. Intellectual property and the iLead name

The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, logos, and the "iLead" name and mark, is owned by iLead and its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited license granted in Section 3, nothing in these Terms transfers any right, title, or interest in the Service to you.

You may not, without our prior written permission:

  • use the name "iLead," our logo, or any confusingly similar name or mark, as or in your own product, project, company, domain name, or social media handle;
  • state or imply that your product, service, fork, plugin, or content is official, endorsed by, affiliated with, or produced by iLead when it is not;
  • use the iLead name or branding in a way likely to confuse users about the source of software, support, or information they are receiving.

Unauthorized use of our name or marks, particularly in connection with a modified, cracked, or otherwise tampered copy of the App, causes real harm to our users and our business, and we will pursue trademark, unfair-competition, and any other available claims against it.

8. Your data and your vault

Hosts, credentials, keys, notes, snippets, and recordings you store in the App stay in an encrypted file on your own device unless you explicitly export, back up, or sync it yourself (including to a cloud-storage folder you configure for cross-device sync). We do not have your master password, cannot decrypt your vault, and cannot recover it for you if it is lost with no backup of your own. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of information you store and for safeguarding your own devices, master password, and any exported or synced copies.

9. Third-party services

Billing is handled by Paddle.com Market Limited, acting as merchant of record; your purchase is also subject to Paddle's own terms and privacy policy. The App may connect to hosts, cloud-storage providers (for optional sync/backup), and other infrastructure you configure yourself - your use of those third-party services is governed by your own agreements with them, not by us.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THE SERVICE IS FREE OF VULNERABILITIES. YOU USE THE SERVICE, AND CONNECT TO YOUR OWN HOSTS THROUGH IT, AT YOUR OWN RISK.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ILEAD AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR REVENUE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS EITHER PARTY'S LIABILITY FOR FRAUD, OR ANY OTHER LIABILITY THAT CANNOT LAWFULLY BE LIMITED.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold iLead harmless from any claim, liability, damage, loss, and expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party, including anything you connect to or do through a host you access using the App.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your license or access to the Service at any time for a material breach of these Terms, including anything described in Section 6, with or without notice. You may stop using the Service, and cancel any subscription, at any time as described in Section 4. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, and 15) survive.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which iLead is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory local consumer-protection law provides otherwise. Any dispute not resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the courts of that jurisdiction, and you consent to their personal jurisdiction, except where mandatory law requires a different forum.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (for example, in the App or by email to the address on your account) before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
