iLead vs PuTTY, MobaXterm, WinSCP, Termius, and SecureCRT

Searchers looking for a PuTTY alternative, a MobaXterm alternative, or a Termius alternative usually want two things: keep their old sessions, and stop putting the fleet in someone else's cloud. That is the job. Every row below is compared feature by feature, not lumped into a generic bucket.

Built in, not bolted on

What iLead does that these don't

Sync without a vendor cloud

Point two devices at the same folder you already use, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, a NAS, and they merge automatically. Termius syncs too, but only through their own cloud account. PuTTY, MobaXterm, WinSCP, and SecureCRT don't sync at all.

A real video, not a keystroke log

Record presentation mode captures the terminal side by side with your webcam, narrated over the mic, and saves it as an actual video for a demo or a tutorial. Every one of these five gives you a text log at best - none of them record a video.

Host and container monitoring, not just a shell

Live CPU, memory, disk, and process metrics with a one-click process kill, plus Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes container management - list, start, stop, restart, pull logs. None of these five ship anything like it; you'd normally reach for a separate dashboard.

Browser companion with no relay server

Open one live session in a browser with a link that expires on a timer you pick, 15 minutes to 24 hours, or never. It talks straight to your machine on your network. Termius has a web app, but it's routed through their cloud; the other four don't have one at all.

A command log that isn't a keystroke log

Every ops command, log pull, kill, and container action gets recorded, separately from interactive typing, which stays private unless you turn on session recording yourself. None of these five draw that line - it's all your keystrokes logged, or none of it.

Free a lost device's seat yourself

See every device on your subscription and release one that's broken, lost, or retired, from any other device, no support ticket. Termius and SecureCRT route this through their own account/support flow; PuTTY, MobaXterm Home, and WinSCP don't have a seat concept to manage at all.

PuTTY alternative with a vault

PuTTY is a fine SSH client for one session. iLead is the SSH manager around it: encrypted inventory, notes, keys, monitoring, and a backup. If you outgrew a folder of .ppk files, this is the PuTTY alternative.

MobaXterm alternative that stays local

MobaXterm packs a lot into one window, including a genuinely useful MultiExec broadcast. iLead imports those sessions, matches fleet SSH with real saved playbooks and a results view, and keeps the vault offline instead of behind a paid Cloud add-on.

WinSCP alternative for people who also SSH

WinSCP is a strong SFTP client with real scripting chops, but it leans on PuTTY for the terminal itself. iLead puts SFTP, inline file editing, the terminal, and the SSH tunnel in one encrypted file. That is the WinSCP alternative if you are tired of two apps for one host.

Termius alternative without a cloud login

Termius syncs nicely and has a real snippets library, but the sync runs through their own cloud account. iLead matches the snippets and the multi-device convenience, and adds monitoring, containers, and presentation recording, without holding a copy of your fleet anywhere but the folder you chose.

SecureCRT alternative without a second app for files

SecureCRT's scripting engine is genuinely strong, but SFTP is a separate paid product (SecureFX), and there's no fleet-wide command view, monitoring, or container management in the base app. iLead bundles all of it into the one yearly seat.
